Bucket List Book Club: Read the North
Ages 18 and up
The last Tuesday of each month   6:30 - 7:45 pm

Join us for monthly meetings to discuss one of ten books pulled from a compilation of lists heralding books that should be on every reader's Bucket List. This year's theme is
Read the North and we will delve into a list Canadian Literature in honour of Canada's 150th Birthday.

It seems everyone, including librarians, have a list of books they want to read during their lifetime but simply don't get to. This year, we have chosen a list of books by Canadian authors and about uniquely Canadian experiences. We will have the opportunity to read these books and discuss them with other readers.  All of the books are available in our TRAC system and many are available to download through several e-book providers (Overdrive and 3M Cloud).  We will also have some copies available at the check out desk. Just ask a librarian.

Join us every month or simply for the books that interest you.  Come with the book read and a desire to learn and share. And of course we will provide snacks, because every good book club has treats and tea.

September's book is Indian Horse by Richard Wagamese.

Storyteller Society: Teen Book/Writing Club
Grades 8-10

Teen Book/Writing Club begins on October 31, 2017
Last Tuesday of each month from 4:00-5:00pm

Join us for monthly meetings where we will read some great books and also exercise our creativity and writing skills.  We will alternate between book discussion and writing.  Each two montth section will be focused on a specific genre.  We will read and discuss a book from the chosen genre the first month and then we will explore the writing side of it in the following month, creating our own pieces of work and discussing tips and tricks for writing in the genre.  We will have books available for checkout behind the library or you can order your own copy through TRAC.  Guidelines for the writing portion are attached below or you can come in and ask a librarian for a copy.

You can join us for every month or you can pick and choose the books/genres you are interested in.  Please read the books ahead of time.  And bring your appetites!  Every great book club has good snacks.

October's read is Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede and November's write will be the Fantasy genre.
